The Mwaghavul Youth Movement is this morning, devastated by the death of Miss Favour Pius (12 years), who succumbed to injuries sustained during the gruesome attack on Tukur village in Mangu Halle, Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State last Sunday, 31-05-2026.

With her passing, the death toll from this senseless attack has risen to four innocent victims: Mr. Titus Brigade (55), Mrs. Rahab Titus (45), Mrs. Laitu Pius (43), and Miss Favour Pius (12).

We condemn in the strongest possible terms these coordinated attacks on innocent communities across the state of Plateau and the Nation at large. The recurring massacres in Mangu, Barkin-Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, and other parts of the state have become a national emergency that can no longer be treated with routine condemnations and empty assurances by government at all levels.

The Mwaghavul Youth Movement wishes to acknowledge the efforts of governments and to also remind both the Plateau State Government and the Federal Government that the primary responsibility of government is the protection of lives and property. The people of Plateau State have endured years of bloodshed, displacement, destruction of livelihoods, and the loss of countless innocent lives. Yet, the perpetrators continue to operate unchecked and with alarming confidence, giving many citizens the painful impression that there are no consequences for these heinous crimes against humanity.

The leadership of the Mwaghavul Youth Movement is therefore calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Inspector-General of Police, and all relevant security agencies to immediately deploy adequate security measures to vulnerable communities across Plateau State and ensure that those responsible for these unabated killings are not only identified and arrested but also prosecuted and punished in accordance with the law.

We equally call on Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang to intensify engagements with federal security authorities and ensure that communities under constant threat receive the protection they deserve. The people of Plateau State cannot continue to bury their loved ones while waiting endlessly for justice.

Furthermore, we demand a comprehensive investigation into the activities of individuals and groups who use social media platforms to spread inflammatory propaganda, incitement, and false narratives that often precede violent attacks on Indigenous communities. Words have consequences, and those who deliberately create an atmosphere that encourages violence must also be held responsible.

The Mwaghavul Youth Movement will not accept a situation where innocent citizens are repeatedly slaughtered while the perpetrators remain at large. Mwaghavul lives and Plateau lives matter. The lives of our farmers, women, children, and elderly citizens also matter. We strongly call on the government to rise to its constitutional responsibility and demonstrate, through concrete action, that every criminal is under the law.

Once again, the Mwaghavul Youth Movement stands in solidarity with the bereaved families and all affected communities in Plateau State. We pray the death of our loved ones will not become another statistic in a long list of unresolved destruction.
