MUTFWANG TASKS NEW FIRE OFFICERS ON PROFESSIONALISM, PUBLIC TRUST AS 700 CADETS PASS OUT IN JOS

The Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has called on newly inducted officers of the Federal Fire Service to approach their duties with discipline, courage, and a deep sense of responsibility to the public.

The governor made the call at the Passing Out Parade of Regular Course 06 cadets of the Federal Fire Service, held at the NDLEA Academy in Rikkos, Jos, where 700 officers were formally inducted— the largest single graduating set in the history of the service.

Represented by the Deputy Governor, Her Excellency, Ngo Josephine Chundung Piyo, Mutfwang congratulated the cadets on completing nine months of demanding training, reminding them that firefighting is a profession built on trust, professionalism, and readiness to respond in moments of crisis.

He assured that the Plateau State Government would sustain collaboration with the Federal Fire Service and other emergency agencies to strengthen public safety across communities.

Serving as Reviewing Officer, the Minister of Interior, Hon. Tunji Olubunmi—represented by Maj. Gen. Abdulmalik Jibrin (rtd), Secretary of the Board—said the induction aligns with ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda aimed at repositioning the Federal Fire Service for modern emergency response.

The Controller-General of the Service, CG Samuel Olumode, noted that the cadets had undergone intensive training and would be deployed across the country to manage newly acquired firefighting equipment distributed to commands nationwide.

The ceremony featured parade drills and operational demonstrations that reflected the preparedness of the graduating officers for the demands of the field.

The event highlighted ongoing federal efforts to strengthen emergency response capacity and reinforce public safety infrastructure across Nigeria.
