On this International Youth Day, 12th August 2026, the leadership of the Mwaghavul Youth Movement wishes to proudly salute the courage, resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering determination of Mwaghavul youths who continue to stand firm in the face of enormous challenges confronting Mwaghavul communities.

International Youth Day is no doubt a moment to celebrate the potential, contributions, and resilience of young people across the world.

But as for Mwaghavul youths, however, the reality is painfully different. While young people elsewhere are pursuing education, building careers, creating businesses, and shaping their futures, many of our youths are compelled by circumstances to remain vigilant over their communities and protect lives, families, farmlands, and livelihoods.

Our youths have continued to demonstrate uncommon courage despite persistent attacks and the activities of armed criminal elements popularly known as Fulani militias. Even in the face of what our people perceive as military bias, unprofessionalism and unequal protection, they have refused to surrender their communities to fear.

The last night attack on Murash, which tragically claimed the life of one person, is yet another painful reminder of the insecurity our people continue to endure. Every innocent life lost is a tragedy, and every community attacked is a wound to the collective conscience of the Mwaghavul Youths.

The Movement therefore salutes every Mwaghavul youth who has remained vigilant, assisted vulnerable persons, provided credible information, responded to emergencies, and stood in defence of the Mwaghavul communities. Sincerely, your courage is worthy of recognition.

However, the leadership of the Mwaghavul Youth emphasises that the burden of protecting citizens must not be transferred to young civilians. Government and security agencies have a constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property. They are being paid with taxpayers’ money, especially money from the poor, so they must step up their game. We call upon the military and other security agencies to demonstrate professionalism, impartiality, accountability, and equal commitment to the protection of every community.

We equally call on our youths to remain disciplined and responsible. Our courage must be guided by wisdom. Our struggle is for the protection of lives, justice, peace, and the right of our people to live safely on their ancestral land.

On this International Youth Day, the Comr. Kyesmang Jonathan's led leadership remembers the young men and women whose lives and dreams have been cut short by the actions of the satanic Fulani elements and the inactions of the security personnel. The Movement remembers families mourning their loved ones. We remember youths who have sacrificed their time, comfort, and safety to keep watch over their communities.

To the Mwaghavul youth, we see your courage, we recognise your sacrifices, we honour your resilience and we salute your determination to protect our communities.

Today, we also have a responsibility of reminding the world that Mwaghavul youths deserve an opportunity to build their future, not merely fight to survive the present. We demand peace, justice, equal protection, accountability and, above all, the right of our people to live without fear.

May this International Youth Day renew the commitment of President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Gov. Caleb Mutfwang, the Nigerian Army, and all security agencies to responsible leadership, peaceful coexistence, and the protection of every innocent life.

Once again, Happy International Youth Day to the courageous and resilient Mwaghavul Youths.
