BANDITS ATTACK PLATEAU COMMUNITY, KILL SOLDIER AND 5 RESIDENTS

A devastating attack is said to have been carried out by suspected bandits on Monday in Zurak community, Bashar district of Wase Local Government Area in Plateau State. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least five residents and one soldier, with three soldiers still missing after a fierce gun battle.
According to the information made available to hillspringnews.com, the bandits, who were heavily armed, first attacked a military checkpoint in Sabon Gari community before moving to Zurak, where they clashed with soldiers. The attackers also burnt down houses in Sabon Gari, looted shops, and carted away food items and valuables. Sambo, a youth leader in Wase, confirmed the incident, stating that the body of the slain soldier had been moved to Jos, the capital city of Plateau.
The attack has left the community deserted, with residents fleeing to neighboring villages for fear of further attacks. Jibrin Isa, a resident of Zak community, described the attack as devastating and called on authorities to intervene and restore law and order in the area. The community is still reeling from the aftermath of the attack, with many residents in dire need of help.
This incident is the latest in a string of attacks on Plateau communities. In recent months, the state has witnessed a surge in violent attacks, resulting in significant loss of life and displacement of residents.
